The CEO’s announcement, made through the messaging platform Slack, revealed his frustration with the no-shows.

For those of you who did not show up to the meeting this morning, consider this your official notice: you’re all fired.

You failed to do what you agreed to, you failed to complete your part of the contract, and you failed to show up to the meetings you were supposed to attend and work for.

Went viral on Reddit

In his message, Oddsson expressed disappointment, claiming that employees had failed to uphold their commitment to the company.

“I gave you an opportunity to make your life better, to work hard, and to grow. Yet, you have shown me that you don’t take this seriously.” he stated.

The post, which garnered over 19,000 upvotes and 2,000 comments before being deleted, was later reshared on r/LinkedInLunatics.

In the follow-up post, a user noted that oddsson was already recruiting new staff on linkedin despite the layoffs.

Criticism quickly poured in from online users, many of whom questioned the CEO’s decision-making. “How do you cut 90 people out of your small business and survive?” one commenter asked.

Netizens’ reaction

Another speculated the layoffs were a sign of financial trouble, saying, “You don’t fire 90% of your staff over a missed meeting—you manufacture a reason to cut them without warning because there’s a major financial issue.”

Some users raised doubts about the company’s actual size, noting inconsistencies. “The so-called company has only 20 ‘employees’ on LinkedIn, most of whom are ‘interns,’” one commenter observed. “Looks like just a social media strategy to get publicity.”
