Fuel Prices Drop In Malaysia As Diesel Falls 75 Sen While RON95 And RON97 Decrease By 25 Sen

RON95 under BUDI95 will stay at RM1.99 per litre.
Malaysia’s Ministry of Finance (MoF) has announced a reduction in diesel prices across Peninsular Malaysia, with the new rate set at RM5.97 per litre, effective Thursday until April 22.

According to Sinar Harian, the latest adjustment marks a 75 sen decrease from the previous week’s price of RM6.72 per litre.

Price of RON97 & RON95 drop

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the MoF also confirmed that unsubsidised RON97 and RON95 prices have been lowered by 25 sen each for the same period. The new prices are RM5.10 per litre for RON97 and RM4.02 per litre for RON95.

The ministry said the price revisions were made in line with the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM), following a decline in global oil prices.

Despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia, the government said it will continue to closely monitor developments to ensure fuel supply stability and to protect both consumers and the broader economy from supply chain disruptions.

Subsidised fuel prices remain unchanged

Meanwhile, subsidised fuel prices will remain in place for targeted groups and sectors.

  • RON95 under BUDI95 stays at RM1.99 per litre
  • Diesel in Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan remains at RM2.15 per litre
  • SKPS petrol price is maintained at RM2.05 per litre
  • SKDS diesel price remains at RM2.15 per litre

Increased assistance to ease cost pressures

To offset global fuel price fluctuations, the government has raised BUDI Diesel aid to RM400 per month for April, benefiting about 350,000 recipients with an additional RM35 million allocation. This is the second increase after it was revised to RM300 in March.

Support for the agriculture sector has also been boosted, with the IPKP incentive increased from RM160 to RM300 per hectare, benefiting nearly 200,000 paddy farmers.

Total fuel subsidies are now estimated at RM7 billion monthly, with RON95 subsidies rising to about RM4 billion and diesel subsidies to RM3 billion per month.

The government said these measures aim to maintain food supply stability while easing the impact of global fuel price increases on Malaysians.
