Although mamak stalls are quintessential hangout spots for Malaysians, but unfortunately they aren’t known to have the best hygiene standards.
A woman witnessed this for herself at a popular mamak stall in KL and was so put off by what she saw that she immediately lodged a complaint with health authorities.
Fried chicken on top of rubbish bin
In a Threads post, the OP posted a video of her zooming in on a particular object sitting on top of a rubbish bin.

To her horror, it wasn’t trash or discarded items, but a tray laden with fried chicken. Needless to say, the sight caused her to lose her appetite instantly.
She also disclosed that the mamak was located near the Cheras police headquarters and Sunway Velocity Mall.
Netizens also expressed disgust in the comment section, with many calling for the Ministry of Health to take stern action.


Mamak shut down
Speaking briefly to WeirdKaya, the OP named Ayna said this wasn’t her first time eating at the mamak stall.

She also said that seeing the fried chicken being placed on top of the rubbish bin left her shocked and disgusted as it “raised serious hygiene concerns”.
Thankfully, Ayna added that the Ministry of Health (MOH) acted swiftly and shut the mamak stall the next day after she lodged a formal complaint with them.
