Former para-athlete who was born armless earns a living by selling kuih at Ramadan bazaar

With the Ramadan season officially upon us, many vendors have set up stalls selling delicious Malay cuisine at bazaars across the country to celebrate the breaking of fast and earn an income as well.

One such example is Hijjaz (@muhdhijjaz1), a hardworking young man who manages a stall at bazaar located at Taman Melawati despite his physical disabilities.

In the video, Hijjaz is seen frying pieces of peneram, a traditional Malay pastry and tossing it deftly into a yellow container using a long wooden stick.

What caught the attention of many however, was his dedication in not letting his physical condition be an obstacle in making an honest living during the holy month.

When asked by a netizen how he managed to carry out his work while not having both arms, Hijjaz simply answered, “This is the reality. No dark jokes here.”

“No excuses”

Speaking to WeirdKaya, Hijjaz said that he was born without arms and was formerly a para-athlete for Perak before venturing into his peneram business.

Previously, I had represented the state as a para-athlete and was crowned champion of SUKMA Perak 2018.

The video has since garnered over 218k views and 28.3k likes at the time of publication, with many praising Hijjaz for his determination and resilience.
