A tragic incident unfolded at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) when a 30-year-old foreigner, en route from the UK to Phuket, Thailand, passed away while in police custody on Saturday (Nov 23).
According to Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan, the man was arrested after disrupting the peace at the airport and displaying aggressive behaviour.

Aggressive Behaviour Leads to Arrest
FMT reported that the foreign man, who had been in transit at KLIA, began causing a disturbance and acted aggressively towards other travellers.
His behaviour escalated to the point where he was apprehended by the authorities around 1.30pm.
During the arrest, the man reportedly destroyed several police items and injured three policemen, including an auxiliary officer.
Investigated for Multiple Offences
Following the arrest, the man was being investigated on charges of mischief, voluntarily causing harm, and obstructing the police in carrying out their duties.
However, his situation took a drastic turn while in custody.
While the man was being processed for documentation, he suddenly fell unconscious.
The police quickly sought medical help, and the detainee received preliminary treatment from a doctor at the scene.
Despite efforts to revive him, he was later confirmed dead.
Autopsy pending to determine cause of death
An autopsy was conducted at the Sultan Idris Shah Hospital in Serdang, and the cause of death remains undetermined, as lab results are still awaited.
The case has been classified as a sudden death, and investigations are ongoing.
The Independent Police Conduct Commission and Bukit Aman’s integrity department are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death while in custody.
