Foreign Man Arrested After Jumping Across LRT Platform As ‘Shortcut’ In KL

Ever taken the wrong LRT platform and considered crossing the tracks to get to the other side? Well, you might want to think twice—because one man who actually did it ended up getting arrested.

A foreign man was detained by police after he dangerously jumped from one side of the LRT platform to the other at the Masjid Jamek station along the Ampang Jaya Line.

The incident happened yesterday (Aug 6) at around 10:11am.

According to Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman, officers were dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving a report about the incident. The man was arrested on the spot.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect jumped from Platform 2 to Platform 1 in an attempt to take a shortcut,” he said.

However, the man failed to produce any identification documents and was taken to the Dang Wangi police headquarters for further investigation.

He is currently being investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for not possessing valid travel documents. Police have since applied for a remand order.

ACP Sulizmie reminded the public not to commit any acts that endanger themselves or others, and warned that such actions could lead to legal consequences.
