Electric vehicles (EV) are hard to come by due to its high price tag, so it’s not unusual for owners to want to do something special with it when they do possess one.
Unfortunately for one couple, their hopes of creating a world record were slightly dashed after their EV got into a fender bender in KL.
‘First EV car around the world’ collides with Perodua Bezza in KL
The couple’s failed attempt at making a world record were captured in a 17-second TikTok video which was shared by a user named Asri Janggut three days ago.

In the clip, the EV was seen prepared to be dragged away by a tow truck while a man clad in a dark blue t-shirt, believed to be the owner, looks on.
A bumper sticker with the words ‘First EV around the world’ was also seen emblazoning the rear of the vehicle.
The camera then pans to the other side of the road, where it showed a blue Perodua Bezza with its rear section badly damaged, suggesting that it was no light collision.

According to NST, the EV belonged to a couple who had just purchased it and planned on setting a world record by bringing the BYD electric vehicle on a world tour spanning countries such as Thailand, Laos, China, Europe, and Africa.
Amused reactions from netizens
The clip, which has garnered over 60,000 views so far, saw netizens expressing amusement and pity over the incident.
‘Aduh haven’t even travelled the world yet and already got into an accident.’

‘Still got a P sticker but yet have the heart to tour the world.’

One netizen jokingly suggested that the owner have a bumper sticker with the words ‘first accident in Malaysia’ to commemorate the event.
