A small fire broke out at Marina Bay Sands (MBS) on Tuesday afternoon, with smoke seen rising from the top of the hotel towers.

SCDF said it was notified at around 3.40pm of a fire at 1 Bayfront Avenue, which turned out to be a plastic mat burning on the 55th floor of MBS Hotel Tower 3.
Before firefighters arrived, MBS staff had already managed to put out the flames using a hose reel. No injuries were reported.

Incident happened in a restricted area, no guests were affected

Reported by The Straits Times, a spokesperson said the blaze was minor and happened in an area not accessible to guests. Business operations were not affected.
SCDF said early findings suggest the fire likely started when welding work was being carried out in the vicinity.

The spokesperson added that MBS is working closely with authorities to investigate the cause of the incident.
