Reportedly this evening (June 14), a massive fire erupted at the popular SkyAvenue, Genting Highlands, sending flames and thick smoke billowing into the sky
According to NST, Ismail Abdul Ghani, Deputy Director (Operations) of the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department, reported that the fire began on the second floor of the theme park and then extended to the fourth floor.
The Genting Highlands fire station received the alert around 4:55 pm, with the first fire engine arriving at the scene just five minutes later.
“Sixteen firefighters from Genting Highlands fire station, supported by volunteer firefighters from Janda Baik, are currently working to contain the blaze,” he stated, noting that there have been no updates regarding potential casualties.
Resorts World Genting Addresses The Fire Incident
Regarding the incident, the management of Resorts World Genting issued a statement on the fire incident.
In the post, they clarified that the fire broke out this evening at SkyAvenue, Resorts World Genting, and stated that all other areas at the resort are not affected.
They evacuated the area immediately to ensure the safety of the public.
“Our fire units responded promptly to extinguish the fire. We continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as it progresses,” they wrote in the post.
Witnesses on the scene quickly began capturing photos and videos, which have since gone viral on social media.
As of now, it is unknown whether there have been any casualties resulting from the fire and the extent of the damage.
