Whenever we go to a foreign country, it’s expected of us to behave in a civil manner and treat public amenities with respect.
However, there are some tourists who fail to maintain public decorum and engage in acts of vandalism, just like how this female tourist did with a road sign at an undisclosed location.
Female tourist hangs from road sign in viral clip
In the clip that has been making rounds on social media, it showed the tourist clinging onto a road sign with both her feet dangling slightly in the air.
As a result of her stunt, the road sign is seen being bent over to one side — a clear sign that it wasn’t designed to have a person hanging off it.
After a few seconds, the tourist lets go and lands on the pavement before dusting off her hands as though she had pulled off some Olympic feat.
Although a few men walked past the tourist and saw what had happened, none of them stepped into tell her off.
For the uninitiated, the tourist was attempting to perform the latest TikTok trend, where participants would hang from traffic lights, street signs and other road infrastructure while lip-syncing to American rapper Kid Cudi’s ‘Maui Wowie’.
However, this trend was frowned upon by authorities, with Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) admonishing netizens who took part in the trend.
Gets roasted in the comments
Unsurprisingly, the tourist’s antics didn’t sit well with netizens, who wasted no time in bashing her in the comments.
‘Thank you for damaging the sign. Time to lose some weight!’
‘A red King Kong hanging on the bar waiting for bananas.’
Meanwhile, one called for the police and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to intervene by arresting the tourist for damaging public property.
We get it that no one wants to be OOTL, but not all trends are beneficial!
