On Tuesday (Apr 7), 17-year-old Guo Yujie (transliteration) was tragically killed after a wooden temple beam broke and struck her.
Her funeral was held at her hometown today and it was attended by a large number of family members and friends who came to say their final goodbyes.
Reporters from China Press, who were present at the funeral, observed that several family members offered prayers in a ceremony which was headed by a Buddhist nun.

Before Guo’s body was taken to the crematorium to be cremated, family members and friends walked around the coffin while paying their respects for the final time.

As the hearse headed towards the Sepang Municipal Council crematorium, a large crowd of mourners trailed behind, adding on to the somber mood.

China Press also reported that Guo’s parents had instructed funeral staff to dress their daughter in her favorite sneakers, waist pouch, and jeans in her final journey to the afterlife.
However, the pain of losing their daughter proved too much to bear, with Guo’s mother crying uncontrollably as a family member consoles her.

The hearse also made its way past Guo’s secondary school, where her teachers and classmates lined up outside the compound to bid farewell to her.

Meanwhile, members of the Nan Tian Gong Temple committee handed a sum of money to Guo’s as a gesture of support.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and we hope Guo finds peace in the afterlife.
