Passengers onboard an intercity train from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh found the journey extended for another two hours after one of the passengers purposely pulled the emergency brake.
The entire incident was caught by the Electric Train Service’s (ETS) CCTV and the footage was later shared on social media by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB).
Man pulls emergency brake, ETS train to Ipoh delayed for 2 hours
In a Facebook post by KTMB yesterday (Oct 13), it uploaded a 7-second CCTV footage showing a man in a blue t-shirt yanking the emergency brake while the train was still moving before walking away.

As a result of the man’s actions, the train, ETS ES9052, which was supposed to reach Ipoh at 12.16am, only arrived at 2am.
NST later reported that a report regarding the incident is currently in the works and will be submitted to Land Public Transport Agency for further action, according to KTMB Group CEO Datuk Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin.
Meanwhile, KTM Berhad urged passengers to stay away from doing things that will disrupt train services.

It also added that the video was shared online as a way to spread awareness and ensure such incidents don’t occur again.
Under Section 122 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715), those found guilty for improper use of emergency signalling equipment face a fine of up to RM1,000, three months in jail, or both.
