A voter has alleged that an officer from the Election Commission (EC) had tried to delay the voting process by reading names from the list slowly.
Under GE15 procedure, one has to wait for the officer to read out his/her personal details before the ballot can be casted.
Read names out slowly
Speaking to WeirdKaya, the voter, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the incident took place at Phor Tay Private School, Penang at around 11.45am today.
According to him, the officer had apparently tried to make voters restless and discouraged to vote by deliberately calling out their names slowly.
We hardly moved an inch after queuing up for one hour.
“However, things changed when I brought the matter up to a state assemblyperson (ADUN) from DAP.
“The officer was later replaced by someone else and only then did we see the queue ease up,” he said.
He also provided a video to WeirdKaya that he took, where it showed several voters still waiting for their turn after an hour.
WeirdKaya has reached out to EC for comment regarding the incident and is still waiting for a reply.
