E-hailing drivers picking up passengers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 will now have to pay a RM3 entry fee.
Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd said the new charge takes effect today for every e-hailing vehicle entering the designated passenger pick-up area.
RM3 to enter the pick-up area
The designated e-hailing pick-up zone is located on Level 1 of the Main Terminal Building at KLIA Terminal 1.

Malaysia Airports said the fee would help support the continued operation and maintenance of the upgraded facilities and systems at the area.
Drivers will continue to receive a maximum of 10 minutes at the kerbside pick-up zone.
Those who exceed the time limit will be subjected to the applicable penalty charges, although the exact amount was not stated.

New facilities introduced
The upgraded area now features a licence plate recognition system linked to a passenger information display system.
Other additions include self-service kiosks, dedicated passenger waiting lounges, structured pick-up bays and on-ground marshals.
According to Malaysia Airports, the new system will strengthen monitoring and ensure that only authorised e-hailing vehicles use the designated facilities.
Aims to improve traffic flow
The 10-minute limit is also meant to keep vehicles moving, make more pick-up bays available and provide passengers with a smoother pick-up experience.
Malaysia Airports said the initiative was developed after discussions with e-hailing operators and in coordination with the Transport Ministry and Land Public Transport Agency.
For now, passengers booking an e-hailing ride from KLIA Terminal 1 may want to be ready at the pick-up point before their driver arrives to avoid unnecessary waiting.
