Alcohol is considered to be one of the greatest vices in society, as it has the ability to turn people into violent and belligerent individuals who may commit acts they never imagined they’d do.
Two men were recently caught on film assaulting a teenager at a convenience store, with one of them even posing for a selfie with the victim, a move which has stunned many.
Drunk M’sian man punches teen in the face
In a one-minute video which has been circulating on Twitter, it showed two men accosting two young teenage boys who were working at a convenience store.
Suddenly, one of the men landed a sucker punch squarely on the teen’s face and beat him a few times before shoving him to the ground.
Although the man’s friend and the other teen tried to break up the fight, the man refused to relent and sent a kick flying straight into the teen’s face.
Man’s friend poses for a selfie with victim
In a twist that no one saw coming, the man’s friend apparently had the desire to pose for a selfie with the injured teen, who had a bloodied nose as a result of the assault.
As seen from the selfie, the friend could be seen grinning from ear to ear while the teen had a dazed look on his face, presumably still trying to absorb what had taken place.
Assault sparked by unpaid umbrellas
Harian Metro reported that the beatdown was due to several umbrellas that the man refused to pay for.
In a statement by Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hasan, he said the incident took place at a convenience store located in Bandar Rinching, Semenyih at 5am.
“One of the suspects, who was drunk, took three umbrellas and left the premises without making any payment. When the victim caught wind of his actions, he confronted him and it led to a verbal altercation.
“Angry at being confronted, the suspect punched the victim in the face and fled the premises with his friend,” he said.
The victim’s father, Shahrul Aminshah Aziz, told the Malay daily that his 18-year-old son was working part-time at the convenience store after completing SPM.
Police are now working to track down both suspects to assist in investigations under Section 394 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years, a fine, or caning.
Those with further information are urged to head over to any police station under the Kajang District Police Headquarters (IPD) or contact 0389114222. Additionally, they can also contact investigating officer Inspector Nur Fatihah Awang at 01125703695.
