Moderated by popular actor and local stand-up comedian Harith Iskander, Malaysia’s squash champion, Datuk Nicol Ann David, as well as prominent humanitarian activist Tan Sri Dr Jemilah Mahmood served as panellists to share personal anecdotes.

The pivotal aim of the forum is to delve into the diverse ways in which sports contribute to breaking barriers, fostering connections among communities, and nurturing a collective sense of identity.

The All Black legend remarked, “Overcoming adversity and succeeding at a young age, I aspire to add value to people’s lives by using sport as a beacon of hope in bringing people together.

Regardless of our origins and backgrounds, I believe finding purpose in our lives is what everyone can relate to.

On top of serving as a source of motivation, the thought-provoking session further catalysed meaningful conversations that recognised the athletes’ responsibility to inspire and uplift the next generation through equal representation.

“Coming from a mixed-race heritage, we believed in a world with endless possibilities. Utilising my current position and platform to advocate for those who are underrepresented, sport is the tool where we can unify people rather than divide them.

“A sport can only grow when there are both parties in the picture,” Datuk Nicol echoed the sentiment.

Tan Sri Jemilah reaffirmed the transformative power of sports as a vehicle for harmony within the community. She commended Sunway University’s dedication to educating students about the values imparted through sports.

By harnessing the universal language of sports and the enthusiasm of the youth, together we can build a more inclusive and peaceful world.
