A nephrologist from Hospital Putrajaya, Dr. Rafidah Abdullah claimed she had received messages about an attempt to cut the vaccination queue. In a tweet, she shared a screenshot from a whistleblower who revealed that a Kelantan state secretary requested 200 priority spots to be given, forcing frontliners to give in even though they are the first batch to be vaccinated.

Dr. Rafidah said she has been receiving similar messages and urged the government to ensure that the vaccine is distributed fairly.

“We need to ensure distributive justice & instill trust in our national immunisation programme.”

She also tagged Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin in the tweet, who is also the Coordinating Minister of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme. She called upon him to consider establishing an independent channel for citizens to file such complaints and make sure that queue jumpers face repercussions.

In his reponse to Dr. Rafidah, Khairy said that he takes such matters seriously and encouraged whistleblowers to report directly to him.

“I view the issue of queue-jumper seriously. I have related the matter to @DGHisham (Dr Noor Hisham) so that there is no queue-jumping. Whistleblowers can send email anonymously to me at kj@mosti.gov.my and I will investigate.”

After the tweet went viral, Kelantan State Local Government, Housing and Health Committee chairman Dr. Izani Husin denied the allegations, saying that the claim was untrue and done with malicious intent.
