A woman in Malaysia was left emotional after discovering that her food delivery rider had continued working despite being injured in a road accident.
According to a Facebook post by a woman, the rider told her that he could not afford to rest as he still had children to support.
Rider was limping at her doorstep
She ordered Taiwanese mee sua for her child after the rain stopped that afternoon.
When the rider arrived with her order, she noticed that he was limping as he walked towards her doorstep.
Concerned, she immediately asked what had happened.
“I was involved in an accident this afternoon,” he replied calmly.
The answer caught her off guard, and she asked why he was still making deliveries instead of seeking medical attention.
According to the rider, he was hit by a car while making deliveries in the rain and was experiencing pain in his leg.
‘I have children, so I cannot rest’
Thinking that his wife must be worried, she said: “Your wife must be worried about you.”
However, the rider paused before quietly telling her that he was divorced.
When she asked whether he had children, he said yes.
“So I cannot rest,” he added.
His short response stayed with her.
“Some people are not working because they do not feel pain. They simply do not have the luxury of stopping,” she wrote.
“If they stop, what will happen to their children? What about their daily expenses and dinner?”
Gave him a small tip
The customer said people often view delivery riders as workers who simply bring food to their homes.
However, behind every delivery may be someone enduring difficulties while trying to provide for their family.
She quietly gave the rider a tip, although she was unsure how much it would help him.
“At least I wanted him to know that he was working very hard, and I was thankful that he delivered our dinner safely,” she said.
She also urged members of the public to be more patient with delivery riders, as they may never know what the person standing in front of them has experienced that day.
