KUALA LUMPUR – National diving queen Datuk Pandelela Rinong Pamg brought home another medal for Malaysia after finishing third at the women’s 10m platform at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary yesterday (June 28).
This comes after the official Twitter account of the Olympics posted a picture of Pandelela swimming effortlessly in the pool along with the question: “Can she add another medal to her collection in the #FINABudapest2022 women’s 10m platform final?”
After responding in the most Malaysian way possible with a “boleh lah” (of course lah), Pandelela splashed her way to the bronze medal with a total of 338.85 points.

The gold and silver medal were taken by China’s Chen Ruxi and Quan Hongchan respectively.
This is the 29-year-old’s second medal after she won bronze at the 2015 edition in Kazan, Russia, reported New Straits Times.
This win was also a sign of huge improvement in Pandelela’s performance after she tallied 332.10 and 313.15 in the preliminaries and semi-finals.
The Sarawakian, who’s the oldest competitor in the tournament, said that this was a “redemption moment” for her following her disappointing performance at the Tokyo Olympics.
I guess we can say that this is my redemption after the Olympics. I see every success and failure as a motivation to do better. And I am always inspired to watch the Chinese divers perform.
“And at 29, this medal definitely shows that I can still compete individually,” she added.
Netizens congratulate the diving queen
Malaysians were delighted by Pandelela’s win and congratulated her on her success.
On Thursday (June 30), Pandelela will take the stage at the women’s 10m platform synchronised event with her current partner Nur Dhabitah Sabri to defend the silver medal that she won alongside her former partner Datuk Leong Mun Yee in 2019.
