KUALA LUMPUR – The days of capital punishment in the country has officially been numbered following the government’s announcement to abolish the death penalty, reported The Vibes.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the decision was reached after a report on the study of substituting sentences on mandatory death penalty was presented during a cabinet meeting on Wednesday (June 8).

“The government has since accepted and taken note of recommendations from the special committee on substituting sentences on mandatory death penalty that were explained in the report,” he said in a statement today.
