Badminton legend Datuk Lee Chong Wei, who was recently appointed as Johor’s Sports Ambassador, visited His Royal Highness Tunku Ismail, The Regent of Johor in Johor yesterday (March 18).
During his visit, he also took the opportunity to enjoy the city’s famous asam fish dish.

Dined at a restaurant previously visited by the King and PM
Lee dined at Restaurant Jadi Baru Botak on Jalan Lumba Kuda, a well-known eatery operated by a Chinese owner.
The restaurant’s signature dish is asam fish, and it had previously hosted Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Lee, accompanied by Johor State Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs, and Human Resources Committee Chairman Lee Ting Han and Johor Menteri Besar’s Special Affairs Officer Chua Jian Boon, was introduced to the local delicacy.

Visited the Royal Museum before leaving Johor
Lee Ting Han revealed that apart from enjoying the famous dish, Lee Chong Wei also visited the Sultan Abu Bakar Royal Museum, which is not yet open to the public.
During his visit, he took a photo at the Dewan Cina (Chinese Hall).

Lee concluded his Johor trip on Sunday afternoon and has since left Johor Bahru.
Appointed as Johor’s Sports Ambassador
Earlier, Johor Regent Tunku Ismail officially announced Lee Chong Wei’s appointment as Johor’s Sports Ambassador during an engagement session with Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) football fans.
In this role, Lee will collaborate with other international sports icons to promote sports and youth development in Johor. Additionally, he was named the Badminton Advisor for Johor.
