Choosing a window seat on a flight often comes with an additional fee, which is why passengers usually expect to sit in the exact seat they paid for.
However, one Malaysian woman claimed she had to call the cabin crew after finding a couple occupying her assigned window seat, allegedly without asking for her permission.
Wife allegedly wanted the seat to record videos
Sharing her experience on Threads, @aaffiieeyy said she had purchased a window seat for her flight.
Upon boarding, however, she noticed that someone else was already sitting there.

According to her, the passenger was travelling with her husband and allegedly instructed him to take the window seat because she wanted to record videos during the flight.
The woman initially told the couple they could keep the seat, but jokingly demanded that they pay her five times the amount she had paid for it.
The husband allegedly responded: “Do you think I don’t have money?”
She then fired back by questioning why he had not purchased a window seat for his wife from the beginning if money was not an issue.
Wife allegedly remained silent and refused to move
According to the OP, the husband continued to behave stubbornly while his wife remained seated “like a piece of wood” and allegedly showed no intention of moving.

She also stayed silent throughout the confrontation.
As the OP’s assigned seat was located some distance away from where she was standing, she said she called out to a flight attendant from Row 17.
Miss, please help me. Someone stupid has taken my seat,” she recalled shouting.
The cabin crew then approached the couple and explained that the seat had been assigned to and paid for by another passenger.
Made a remark about her Kelantan address
While the cabin crew was explaining the situation, the OP said she made a remark to highlight why passengers should follow their assigned seating arrangements.
She asked the husband what would happen if the plane crashed and his wife’s body was identified according to the passenger information attached to that particular seat.
“If this flight crashes, would you be okay with your wife’s body being sent to my house? The passenger details for that seat carry my home address in Kelantan.”
Her comment appeared to refer to the fact that the seat was booked under her name and personal details, although airlines generally identify passengers using their booking and travel records rather than their seat numbers alone.
Cabin crew offered her another window seat
A netizen later asked whether the OP managed to reclaim her original seat, with the latter confirming she eventually got it back after the cabin crew intervened.
According to her, the staff had offered to move her to another available window seat instead.
She said she would normally have been fine with changing seats. However, due to the couple’s alleged attitude, she decided to insist on reclaiming the exact seat she had paid for.
The couple eventually moved, although she claimed they appeared visibly unhappy about it.
The OP also joked that if she had not been given her seat back, she was prepared to sit on the husband’s lap since his wife had taken her assigned place.
However, she clarified that she did not behave this way in every situation.
She said there had been occasions when elderly passengers, children, or other passengers had occupied window seats she had purchased, and she allowed them to remain there without making an issue out of it.
