Coldplay’s concert in Malaysia was a night to remember, but not just for the music.
The aftermath revealed a disheartening scene: piles of discarded raincoats littering the rock zone, reflecting a stark disregard for the environment.
This wasteful act stands in sharp contrast to Coldplay’s well-known commitment to sustainability, highlighting a troubling aspect of some attendees’ mentality.
The entire night, it was raining in the rock zone, leading people to wear raincoats.
A WeirdKaya reader who attended the rock zone area at the concert yesterday shared with us the aftermath of the event.
They noted that the area was littered with raincoat, but later, some individuals, possibly crew members, cleaned it up.
But it’s about the mindset of littering in the first place.
Lack of dustbins?
Even before the concert starts, a less glamorous scene unfolded outside.
A video, barely 11 seconds long but potent in its message, made the rounds on social media, showing heaps of garbage – food wrappers, drink bottles, you name it – littering the grounds.

“I thought it was in India just now. Turns out it’s in Bukit Jalil, Malaysia,” the caption reads.
In a twist of irony, some pointed out that Coldplay, known for their environmental advocacy, had previously funded a river cleaning initiative in Malaysia, donating RM3.2 million for a marine debris interceptor.
Some think the lack of dustbins caused the problem.
“Not surprising. The trash cans were already full. Where else to throw the trash? Around the bins lah.”
However, most attendees expressed that the concert was so incredible that despite the rain, it added a special effect to the Coldplay concert, creating an incredibly beautiful atmosphere.
