A group of Chinese tourists transiting through Kuala Lumpur were left with a positive impression of Malaysia after meeting a kindhearted driver who went above and beyond his duties — without asking for extra payment.
According to a post on Xiaohongshu, he and his friends arrived in Kuala Lumpur and had booked an airport transfer service.
A surprising first meeting
However, they ended up waiting by the roadside for 50 minutes before the driver arrived.
“When he got out of the car, he apologised repeatedly, hurried to move our luggage, and opened the car door for us.
“His sincerity made me swallow the complaints I had prepared to let out beforehand,” the post read.
The group initially planned to go for a durian buffet, but the driver suggested visiting a local market instead, saying it would be fresher and cheaper and even offered to take them there without extra charge.

About half an hour later, we arrived. The prices were clearly marked, the varieties were plentiful, and the prices were friendly. They even promised to replace any durian that wasn’t tasty.
Going the extra mile
On his recommendation, they bought Black Thorn, Musang King, and three other local durians with distinct flavours, plus two coconuts, for just RM165.
Before they left, he bargained the price down by another RM17 and even added eight or nine mangosteens to their bags.

The tourist noted that chartering a private car would have cost three times more than the airport transfer fee.
Yet even though their booked service had officially ended, the driver, upon learning they hadn’t eaten, drove them elsewhere for a meal at no extra charge too.
