On Monday (June 10), China Press, one of Malaysia’s biggest Mandarin media outlet had its Facebook page of 2.5 million followers completely taken down from the platform, much to the shock of netizens.
Following the incident, its editor-in-chief Lin Mingbiao (transliteration) revealed that the Facebook page had been hit with a ban for allegedly violating community guidelines but didn’t divulge which post was the culprit.

He also added that despite the ban, the news outlet will continue its operations as usual and called upon followers to get their news updates from their alternative page (https://www.facebook.com/cpjohor) while China Press files an appeal against the ban.
China Press’ Facebook page restored
In a surprising twist, it seemed that China Press’ appeal worked out in the end as they posted a screenshot of a notification that the Facebook page can now be viewed by the public.

A quick check by WeirdKaya has since confirmed that its Facebook page is now officially up and running.
However, the cause which triggered the ban still remains unknown.
