China Man’s Blood Turns Green Due To Him Drinking Alcohol Almost Every Single Day

Darah kau hijau?
Alcohol, when taken in moderation, is relatively harmless and serves as a way for one to unwind after a long day at work. However, if overconsumed, can lead to frightening health consequences.

A man in Shenzhen, China, had the shock of his life after he saw his blood turn into shades of green, a condition which was linked to him drinking alcohol almost every day for several years.

According to a news report by CTWANT, the 36-year-old man simply known as Chen noticed that he was losing his appetite, along with his eyes and skin turning yellow.

Aside from that, he also suffered from nausea, vomiting, and breathlessness.

After seeing a doctor, Chen’s condition was noted to be unlike those who had jaundice hepatitis, a liver disease that makes the skin and eyes to turn yellow.

A urine test later revealed that Chen had increased ketone levels, causing the doctor to believe that he had diabetic ketoacidosis, a severe complication of diabetes.

This was a surprise for the young man, who had no prior history of diabetes.

Chen’s surprise later turned into horror when his blood was extracted, where it wasn’t in the usual dark red colour. Instead, it appeared green and milky.

The green blood was later found to have been caused by severe liver damage due to long-term alcohol abuse and abnormally high levels of fat in the blood due to excessive eating and drinking (hyperlipidemia).

Aside from the unusual-looking blood, Chen’s gallbladder was also found to be completely inflamed, while his cholesterol and triglyceride levels were 10 times above normal levels.

In the end, he was hit with a slew of conditions such as acute jaundice hepatitis, alcoholic liver disease, diabetic ketoacidosis, and hyperlipidemia.

CTWANT also reported that if Chen’s diabetes wasn’t detected earlier, he would have suffered a heart attack, a stroke, and an inflammation of the pancreas — all of which are fatal.

Promises to to stay away from alcohol

Doctors later performed double plasma filtration on Chen’s blood, where a small bag of yellow grease was extracted from his blood.

Upon seeing the bag of grease, Chen vowed not to overeat or overconsume alcohol again.

After spending two weeks at the hospital, Chen was finally discharged but was made to write a note promising that he wouldn’t touch a drop of alcohol anymore.
