The declaration was made during a speech at a forum celebrating the diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China.

According to Ambassador Ouyang, the extension was part of a broader announcement by Chinese President Xi Jinping in France, where he extended visa-free access to citizens from 12 countries, including Malaysia.

According to a press release from the Chinese government, the countries benefiting from this extension include France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Malaysia, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

Travelers from these countries can enter China for business, tourism, family visits, or transit for up to 15 days without a visa.
This move aims to enhance bilateral exchanges and cooperation further.
The initial visa-free agreement, which commenced on 1 December last year, allowed Chinese nationals to enter Malaysia for up to 30 days without a visa, while Malaysians could enter China for up to 15 days.
