In the midst of Terengganu’s severe flood crisis, Dr. Azman Ibrahim, a Terengganu executive council member, is facing criticism from netizens for his recent social media post on platform X.
The post, which reminisces about childhood memories of playing in floodwaters, has been deemed inappropriate given the current dire situation in the east coast state, where thousands have been evacuated due to the floods.

Accompanied by a 19-second video depicting two men pulling a young boy seated on a water storage tank cover through floodwaters on a motorcycle, the post showcases Azman, the state Agriculture, Agro-based Industry, Food Security, and Commodities committee chairman, wading through ankle-deep floodwaters with a smile on his face.
The video’s caption reads: “Childhood memories… Enjoy your childhood as much as possible. If I could turn back time, I would.”
As of the time of writing, the post has garnered 2.1 million views.
‘This is not the time’
However, the response from netizens has been overwhelmingly negative, with many expressing their displeasure at the perceived insensitivity of the post during a time of crisis.
One commenter cautioned against normalising dangerous activities for the sake of reminiscing, emphasising the importance of recognising potential risks.
Another criticised Azman for seemingly disregarding the hardships people are currently facing, stating, “People are going through tough times right now. And here you are, reminiscing about your childhood.”
