In a concerning event at Megah Rise Mall today, the ceiling of the car porch located in front of the mall’s entrance collapsed.
The incident, which occurred at around 3pm, coincided with strong winds and heavy downpours.
“A frightening experience”
Speaking to WeirdKaya, Fiona Ng, one of the witnesses expressed that it is truly a frightening experience.
“My reaction to scream came from genuine concern for others’ safety. I’d never seen such an event before and acted instinctively to warn nearby people. If the ceiling had collapsed more, immediate alerts might have been vital,” the witness shared.
She also uploaded a video recording the happening of the incident.

The mall’s official statement revealed that the collapse resulted in three minor injuries.
“We regret to inform you that the ceiling of the car porch in front of Megah Rise Mall entrance collapsed during strong winds and heavy downpours this afternoon at approximately 3 pm, resulting in 3 minor injuries,” said the statement.
As of now, the exact cause behind the unfortunate incident is under investigation. Mall authorities have expressed their commitment to address the situation promptly and ensure that such incidents do not reoccur in the future.
