Car Splits Into Half In Sarawak, Killing Police Officer

He was flung out onto the road due to the crash's impact.
A 28-year-old police officer was killed after the car he was driving crashed and split nearly in half yesterday.

The fatal accident took place at Kilometre 42 along Jalan Kuching-Serian in Sarawak at 6.30am, reported The Borneo Post.

Car splits into half and kills police officer

Serian district police chief DSP Aswandy Anis told the English daily that the driver was heading towards Serian from Kuching.

Along the way, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the road divider, before slamming into the Sungai Samarahan bridge concrete.

The driver was also flung out to the side of the road due to the impact of the crash.

The victim, later identified as Constabel Mohd Shamezad Mohd Salehuddin, was pronounced dead by paramedics when they arrived at the scene.

His body was then taken to the Serian Hospital for an autopsy.

In a statement, the Fire and Rescue Department said a group of firefighters from the Serian fire station were tasked with cleaning up the area and ensuring that there were no oil spills or debris on the road.
