Car roof gets torn off in road accident, female driver dies
The Chinese daily reported that the victim, 46-year-old Haswa Zhu Lin (transliteration), was fetching her 9-year-old daughter at St. Francis Elementary School.
Suddenly, a Perodua Myvi suddenly veered from the opposite lane and collided head-on with her vehicle.

In fact, the impact of the collision was so strong that it completely ripped off the roof of the Toyota Camry Haswa and her daughter were in.
In a statement by Kota Kinabalu district police chief Assistant Superintendent Kasim Muda, he said the Myvi driver, a man in his 20s, lost control of the car, hit a road divider, and crashed into the opposite lane while trying to make a U-turn.
As a result of the crash, Haswa suffered severe injuries and was later declared dead at the scene when firefighters came to extract her body from the wreckage.
Miraculously, her daughter survived the crash but it’s not known whether the Myvi driver was unhurt.

Kasim added that investigations found that it was the Myvi driver’s negligence that caused the accident and that the case is being probed under Section 41(1) of the 1987 Road Transport Act for causing death by careless or reckless driving.
If convicted, the Myvi driver faces up to 10 years in jail and a fine of up to RM50,000 for the first offense. For subsequent offenses, the jail term is increased to 15 years while the fine can go up to RM100,000.
