Bukit Bintang To Be Transformed Into “Malaysia’s Ginza” Or “Orchard Road” In 2026, Says Nga Kor Ming

“A Disney-style parade is also planned for January 2026.”
Bukit Bintang may soon shine brighter than ever, as Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming announced an ambitious plan to turn the iconic KL district into the next Ginza of Japan or Orchard Road of Singapore.

According to 8TV News, speaking at the launch of the “I Lite U” project in Bukit Bintang today (Oct 29), Nga said the initiative aims to make the Golden Triangle area more vibrant, colourful and full of life, especially with Visit Malaysia Year 2026 just around the corner.

My mission is to ensure the image of Bukit Bintang’s Golden Triangle will be on par with Tokyo’s Ginza or Singapore’s Orchard Road,” he said.

Disney-Style parade planned for January 2026

Nga also revealed that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will officially launch the project on 3 January 2026.

To accommodate the ceremony and festivities, Bukit Bintang will undergo road closures, as a large-scale parade is planned.

We will request the police to close several roads in Bukit Bintang because we are organising a parade comparable to Disneyland,” he said.

Nga encouraged the public to take public transport on that day to avoid heavy traffic.
