Nga Kor Ming: Trump Inviting Anwar Into “The Beast” Reflects Malaysia’s Rising Status In The World

Nga said both China and the United States now view Malaysia as an important partner in the region.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in Kuala Lumpur for the 47th ASEAN Summit, where he extended a rare invitation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to ride with him in the U.S. presidential state car, “The Beast.”

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming says Trump’s invitation to share a ride with Anwar reflects Malaysia’s elevated standing on the global stage.

According to China Press, Nga said both China and the United States now view Malaysia as an important partner in the region.

He was late due to airport disruptions

He said he arrived at his event an hour late after U.S. President Donald Trump’s arrival for the 47th ASEAN Summit caused a temporary airspace and airport lockdown at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The security measure delayed 22 flights, including the one he was on.

Nga made the remarks this morning while delivering the closing address for the 2025 Expo Kampung Baru Zone Tengah dan Selatan, an event hosted by the Housing and Local Government Ministry.
