Broga Hill stands as one of Malaysia’s most renowned hiking destinations, particularly favored by beginners for its manageable trails, making it a popular hiking route for locals and tourists.
As such, one can imagine the sheer shock Malaysians would have upon hearing that Broga Hill was ablaze last night, with photos and videos of it being shared widely online.
Broga Hill catches fire
The incident was shared in a Facebook post by the Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Semenyih yesterday (Mar 17), where they also shared photos and videos of the fire.
According to the post, the fire took place at Broga Hill 1, where the blaze covered at least five acres of land.
A team of firefighters from the Semenyih, Ampang, Serdang, and Bangi Fire Stations then rushed to the scene after being alerted of the fire at 7.39pm.
Aside from the firefighters, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Task Emergency Medical Services (TEMS) and the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) also lent a hand in putting out the fire.
No casualties reported
Thankfully, firefighters were able to quell the fire with fire extinguishers and also used the fire break method to make sure the flames do not spread further.
After putting out the fire, the authorities monitored the surrounding area to ensure that there were no more sources of fire before wrapping up the operation.
Thanks to the firefighters’ swift response, there were no reports of casualties as a result of the blaze.
