A British national found himself in a fender bender involving his friend’s car which saw the vehicle smashing right through the wall of a homestay in Melaka.
China Press reported that the incident took place at around 2pm at a traffic light intersection in Taman Kota Laksamana today.
Was taking car to workshop
The man, known as Francis, told China Press in fluent Mandarin that he had arrived in Kuala Lumpur two weeks ago and had borrowed a friend’s car two days ago to travel solo to Melaka.
He added that he was on his way to take the car to a workshop for maintenance at his friend’s request prior to the accident.

Collision
Francis said he was driving from the traffic light junction in Kota Laksamana Jaya and heading towards Taman Kota Laksamana when he saw a car approaching him from the left side.
He tried to avoid a collision by braking the car, but it proved to be futile as the other car hit him, causing him to lose control and crash into a homestay, causing one of its walls to collapse completely.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the accident.
Deeply apologetic
Francis, who works as a court interpreter, said the driver of the other vehicle stopped briefly after the accident and spoke to police officers who arrived at the scene before leaving.
As for himself, Francis had to wait for a tow truck to appear before he went to lodge a police report.

He also expressed regret over the accident, saying that it had brought much inconvenience to the homestay owner.
When interviewed, the homestay owner said several guests were expected to check-in in two days’ time. But with the accident, repairs can’t be carried out until compensation is made via insurance.
He added that he is forced to make alternative arrangements for his guests as it was highly unlikely that the damage can be fixed in time.
