One of the most beloved bookstore chains in the country, Borders Malaysia, will be officially be shuttering its doors for good in August.
The bookstore, which originated from the American multinational book and music retailer, Borders Group, opened its first store in Berjaya Times Square back in 2005 under the management of Berjaya Books Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Berjaya Corporation.
Borders Malaysia to close on Aug 31
According to FMT, it reported that Borders will cease operations on Aug 31 and close its Bangsar Village 2 outlet after July 31.

“Although our journey is coming to an end, our commitment to our customers remains unchanged. We will ensure that you receive the best customer service until the very end,” it wrote in a notice placed at the said outlet.
Borders Malaysia currently has four outlets in Kuala Lumpur that are still in operation, namely at Quill City Mall, Bangsar Village II, Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur, and Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
However, the company did not release an official statement announcing when the remaining outlets will follow suit.
Meanwhile, Borders Malaysia’s website stated that its online store was no longer available since May 31.
