In recent days, the whole of Malaysia was shaken by news concerning 15-year-old Yap Xin Yuan, who went missing on Dec 19 and was found dead 11 days later.
As police continue their investigations, more disturbing details surrounding the circumstances of her death have emerged, with the latest being the place where her severely decomposed body was found.
Yap Xin Yuan’s body found dumped at crocodile habitat
According to a report by Harian Metro, Yap’s body was discovered at a garbage trap in Kampung Rancangan Tanah Belia (RTB) Bukit Changgang, where it’s situated 500 meters from the main road and in close proximity with cattle and goat enclosures.
Aside from that, the area is rather secluded and is said to often attract fishing enthusiasts while also serving as a crocodile habitat.

A reporter from the Malay daily noted that the road leading to the site Yap’s body was found is made of red earth but is only accessible to motorcycles and cars.
‘Not uncommon to find dead bodies there’
A resident who wished to stay anonymous told Harian Metro that he learned of the body’s discovery through WhatsApp last Sunday (Dec 29).
He also added that it wasn’t unusual to find dead bodies within the area.
However, what shocked us the most was that the body found last Saturday (Dec 28) was said to be connected to the case of the missing teenage girl.”

Summary of events
On Dec 19, Yap was reported missing after she failed to return from a lion dance practice held at a club located near Batu 11, Cheras.
