According to Yap's lion dance coach, she met a 16-year-old ex-trainee two months ago before pursuing a romantic relationship with him.

Before Yap’s disappearance, CCTV footage near her boyfriend’s residence showed her taking an e-hailing ride to his house on the morning of the day she went missing.

However, her boyfriend claimed that after having a meal together with Yap, they had an argument before Yap left the scene.
