2 M’sians Injured After Boat Generator Explodes While They Were Waiting For Their Nasi Kandar In Penang

Two other passengers escaped unhurt from the explosion
As four Malaysians awaited their nasi kandar aboard their boat near Persiaran Karpal Singh, Sungai Pinang, the vessel’s generator unexpectedly exploded, injuring two of them.

Luckily, local fishermen were quick to rescue the quartet, all aged 52, shortly after the incident occurred yesterday.

According to Kosmos, A’ Azelan Hassan, Chief of the Jalan Perak Fire and Rescue Department, reported the luxury boat was making its way from Port Dickson to Pulau Langkawi when the mishap happened.

Waiting for their Nasi Kandar

The explosion, which occurred while the group was waiting for their Nasi Kandar delivery, was believed to have been caused by a generator malfunction, injuring the captain and one passenger with glass shards.

Despite the incident, the other two passengers remained unharmed and the injured were promptly taken to a clinic by the fishermen.

The boat, registered in Langkawi, Kedah, was part of a journey that ended abruptly about 300 to 500 meters off the shore.

The search and rescue operation wrapped up by 5:08 p.m. the same day, marking a swift response from the authorities in collaboration with the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and the Marine Department.
