KUALA LUMPUR – Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of the cryptocurrency company Binance, recently visited Malaysia and posted a photo of him wearing a batik shirt on the day of his arrival on Twitter along with the hashtag #MalaysiaBoleh.

However, several Indonesian netizens were slightly offended by Zhao’s subtle attribution of the batik to Malaysia and fiercely retorted that the art belonged to them.

They also urged him to pay Indonesia a visit to see the true origins of batik for himself.
Some even took the time to discuss the differences between Indonesia’s and Malaysia’s batik patterns and designs.
