A man in Beijing, China, has gone viral after he used the launch of the iPhone 17 to stage one of the most creative marriage proposals of the year.
According to media reports, the man spent months planning the proposal and waited patiently for the new iPhone 17 series to be released on Sept 19.
‘I love iPhone 17?’
His reason? The name of Apple’s latest smartphone sounded alike to “I Love Feng Shiqi” (爱冯诗琪) in Mandarin — which perfectly matched his girlfriend’s name, Feng Shiqi.
On the first day of the iPhone 17 launch, the man brought his girlfriend to a public park. In front of curious onlookers, he first pulled out a ring, got down on one knee, and asked the all-important question:
Will you marry me?”

But he didn’t stop there. He then revealed the brand-new iPhone 17 Pro he had just bought and added, “This is the iPhone 17. I swear I will always love Feng Shiqi.”
Spent 6 months planning
Speaking to reporters, the man shared that the idea came to him earlier this year.
“I’ve been waiting for months for this phone to launch. The moment it went on sale, I ordered it right away through Meituan’s instant delivery service so I could propose the same day.”
Thankfully, his months of planning paid off with his girlfriend tearfully saying yes and sealing the heartwarming moment.
