Running a business in Malaysia can be lucrative—but not when it’s done through unlawful means.
A Bangladeshi man revealed during a raid that he earns RM55,000 a month after marrying a Malaysian woman and running his own shop and restaurant.
Illegal employment uncovered in raid
The foreign trader operating a grocery store and restaurant in Brickfields found himself in hot water after an integrated operation by the authorities uncovered that he had been employing three undocumented foreign workers without valid permits

According to Kosmo!, the raid, conducted between 9pm and 11pm, revealed that the 47-year-old had been using these workers under the pretence that they were merely “helping out temporarily.”
They’re just helping out, not full-time workers. I pay them between RM45 and RM70 a day,”
Despite the attempt to downplay the situation, it was found that the man had been running his business for some time after marrying a local woman—earning up to RM55,000 monthly through his operations.
Authorities arrested 17 individuals, including employers

Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department Director Wan Mohammed Saupee Wan Yusoff confirmed that a total of 17 individuals were detained during inspections at four separate business premises.
Among those arrested were 13 Bangladeshi men, two Pakistani men, one foreign employer, and two local employers who are believed to be husband and wife.
Action was taken for a number of offences including overstaying, lack of valid identification documents, misuse of visa passes, and sheltering illegal immigrants.
Legal action underway
The case is now being investigated under several sections of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations. During the operation, three Immigration Form 29s—essentially witness summonses—were also issued to employers.
All detainees, aged between 20 and 50, were brought to the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Depot for further action.
