A man armed with a sharp object was shot dead during an attempted robbery at a goldsmith shop in Petaling Jaya this morning.
The incident happened at about 11.00 am when the suspect, believed to have arrived on a motorcycle, targeted a newly opened jewellery outlet.

No customers were inside the shop at the time.
Struggle with security guard
During the incident, the suspect reportedly struggled with a security guard while attempting the robbery.

According to NST, another security guard at the premises noticed that his colleague had been injured and fired two shots at the suspect.
Suspect later confirmed dead
The suspect, who suffered severe injuries, was rushed to a hospital but was later confirmed dead.
Authorities said no jewellery was taken during the attempted robbery.
Police investigating incident
Officers from the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters are currently at the scene conducting investigations into the case.
Employees safe and unharmed
In a post shared on social media, the jewellery shop, WAH CHAN Signature thanked the public for their concern and said all employees were safe and unharmed.
The message, written in Chinese, said:
Thank you for everyone’s care and concern. Our colleagues are all safe.”
