Ambulance In Perak Found To Have Road Tax Which Expired 13 Years Ago

Putting lives at stake.
Under Malaysian law, every vehicle on the road is required to have a valid road tax in order to deem it suitable and legal to be driven around.

Recently, an ambulance was seized by officers from the Road Transport Department (JPJ) in Perak where they discovered a horrifying truth — the road tax had expired 13 years ago.

After conducting checks on the vehicle using the Smart Management Enforcement Device (SMED) found out that its licence and road tax had expired on March 5, 2010.

The post also wrote that a patient was being transported to the Sultanah Bayrun Hospital (HRPB) before the ambulance was halted.

The driver was also ordered to first send the patient to the hospital before bringing the vehicle to JPJ’s Perak headquarter for further examination.

According to Harian Metro, the ambulance was under the ownership of an emergency rescue service agency.

The vehicle was also impounded and slapped with two compounds — one for driving without a valid road tax and another for not possessing insurance coverage.
