The long weekend has led to heavy traffic on several major highways in Malaysia, with many road users facing journeys that took much longer than usual.
The congestion came as Monday (June 1) is a public holiday for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s birthday, while the school holidays also added to the number of people travelling out of town.
8 hours and still stuck on the road
A Threads user, Nrl.nbell also shared her frustration after a trip between Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur took around 8 hours.

According to her post, she was travelling with her family when they found themselves stuck in slow-moving traffic for hours.
JB to KL took 8 hours, and until now, we are still stuck on the road,” she wrote.
The post soon drew responses from other Malaysians who were also caught in the traffic jam during the long weekend.
Netizens say the jam was stressful
In the comment section, many netizens shared that they were also affected by the unusual traffic situation.

One user said the jam was especially difficult for families travelling with children.
If the traffic continues like this, it is really tiring, especially for those with kids in the car. There is nothing much to do except be patient,” the user wrote.
Another netizen said she had been sitting in the car for too long and felt her legs going stiff.
Puchong to Melaka also took nearly 5 hours
Besides the JB-KL route, other road users also reported heavy congestion on different highways.
A netizen said her journey from Puchong to Melaka took almost 5 hours.

“From Puchong to Melaka, it already took nearly 5 hours. Anyone would get angry in this kind of traffic,” she wrote.
The heavy congestion is believed to be linked to the public holiday and school break, which caused more Malaysians to travel at the same time.
As more families continue their holiday plans, road users are advised to plan their trips carefully and expect delays on busy routes.
