A Standard One male student was tragically killed in an accident which saw him getting hit by a school bus not long after alighting from it.
In a report by NST, the incident took place in Taman Sri Lalang, Kluang, Johor at around 4.20pm yesterday (Jul 15).
Suffered severe head injuries
According to Kluang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh, he said the bus driver, a 36-year-old woman, had dropped off the victim prior to the accident.

As the driver was turning into Jalan Bunga Raya 3, the bus hit the victim, who was on the left side of the road. The impact caused him to fall and sustain serious head injuries, leading to his demise.
Driver traumitised
Bahrin added that when the bus driver discovered what had happened, she fainted at the scene due to severe trauma.
She is currently receiving treatment at the hospital and underwent a urine test, which turned out to be negative. However, police will arrest her and place her in custody pending further action.

The case is being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
“I call upon all road users to be careful, be considerate and comply with traffic laws to prevent untoward incidents.
“School bus drivers, in particular, must ensure that the safety of students travelling in their vehicles is at an optimum level before continuing their journey,” said Bahrin.
