Upon arriving at the location, Lun Jie got off the motorcycle and walked to the shop’s porch. Just as his father was about to help his younger son off the motorcycle, he heard something fall from above.

Sensing that danger was ahead, Lun Jie’s father quickly pulled his younger son to safety but didn’t notice that Lun Jie had made his way back to the motorcycle.

Speaking to China Press, Lun Jie’s cousin Hong Jia Wei (transliteration) said Lun Jie suffered severe head injuries and multiple fractures to his arms and legs. He later succumbed to his injuries after two hours of emergency treatment.

As for his younger brother, he was relatively unscathed except for minor scratches on his forehead.

“Lun Jie loved to eat pizza and would visit the pizza shop three to four times a week, where his father would usually take him there after work,” she said.

Jia Wei also claimed that according to Lun Jie’s father, no one stopped to help despite him yelling for assistance when the accident unfolded.

Several bystanders merely watched as they thought Lun Jie (and his family) were foreign workers. When they realised it wasn’t the case, only then did they offer help,” she fumed.

Lun Jie has since been cremated and the pizza shop is currently in the midst of holding discussions regarding compensation with the family.

Our deepest condolences to the family for their loss.
