A mother was left devastated and enraged after an elderly family member confessed to sexually assaulting her teenage daughter while she was under in care.
The revolting act was brought to light in a series of viral clips uploaded to Threads, where it showed the 67-year-old retiree being confronted by the girl’s mother and making the shocking admission.
Repeated assault
According to FMT, an initial investigation revealed that the 13-year-old victim lived with her grandfather in Batu Pahat, Johor, following her parents’ divorce.
In April 2025, the teen went to live with her mother in a northern state, where she disclosed the alleged rape to her mother.
The teen’s mother already had her suspicions when she came across messages her daughter had sent to an acquaintance.
Initially, her daughter was reluctant to speak up, but eventually revealed that she had been raped by her grandfather.
This then led to an explosive confrontation between the teen’s mother and grandfather, with the latter admitting that he had indeed raped the 13-year-old.
A police report was lodged on Monday (June 8) and the elderly man was subsequently arrested.
Remanded
NST reported that based on preliminary investigations, the abuse took place throughout 2025, with the last incident happening in December.
Batu Pahat police chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani confirmed the arrest and added that the suspect is currently under a six-day remand.
The case is being investigated under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, where the suspect faces eight to 30 years in prison and a minimum of 10 cane strokes.
