According to a statement by Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Zaidy Che Hassan, the victim’s wife tried contacting him from 11am to 12:30pm but to no avail. She then asked a neighbour to go check on her husband at their home.
“When the neighbour went to the house, she found it unlocked and saw that the living room was covered in blood, causing her to call for an ambulance,” he said.
A medical assistant later pronounced the victim dead and contacted the police. Zaidy said that police were alerted of the incident at 1.10pm by a hospital staff regarding the discovery of the body.
He added that the victim’s body was fully clothed and several cuts were found on his left hand. A paper cutter knife was also discovered in the living room of the house.
“Investigations revealed that the victim lived in the house with his wife and they had a 32-year-old daughter. However, she left the house in 2016 and never returned or contacted either one of them since,” he said.
The case has since been classified as sudden death.
