PETALING JAYA – The number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia has gone up to the 2,000 thresholds again after recording lower figures for several weeks. Even as we waiting to (hopefully) get vaccinated, it doesn’t mean we can neglect taking precautionary steps to break the chain as the vaccine only serves as extra protection.
Yesterday (April 17), Director General of Health Malaysia, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, shared on his official Facebook page that 40 medical staff had tested positive after receiving the second dose. Another 142 were infected after the first dose.
“A total of 142 healthcare workers were infected after the first dose. More importantly, all had experienced less severe symptoms.”
He also reminded the public to stay alert and not be complacent.
“No one is safe until everyone is safe. Please continue to comply with all the precautionary public health measures (3Cs and 3Ws)”
According to the diagram, more than half (57.2%) of healthcare workers are yet to be vaccinated, 33.3% had just taken the first dose, 7.4% had taken their second dose within two weeks, and only 2.2% were fully vaccinated after more than two weeks.
